How to make Punjabi style Makke Roti?
Corn roti: Mustard greens and corn roti are very tasty to eat in winters. However, making corn bread is not easy. Making Makke Roti in Punjabi style becomes quite easy. Even today, women in the village prepare corn bread on the stove and eat it. Punjabi Style Corn Bread Recipe
First method- First of all, you should know the traditional method by which maize bread is made in the villages and villages of Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. For this, take maize flour and filter it. Now add some lukewarm water and knead the dough into a soft dough. The dough of corn bread has to be kneaded by rubbing it with the palm. It has to be broken from the middle and set by rubbing it with the palm. You have to knead the dough by applying light water on your hands. Break a ball from the dough, apply some water on your hands and roll it into a roti with the help of your palm. If you don’t want to use water, you can make the roti rise by applying ghee. If somehow you are not able to make corn roti, then place the dough on some polythene or butter paper and cover it from above and roll the roti. Put the roti on the pan and cook it from both the sides and then fry the corn roti on low flame on the gas and apply ghee. Very soft and tasty corn roti will be ready.
Second method- Another method is to sift the corn flour and keep it in a pan to heat water. If you are kneading 2 cups of corn flour then keep about 1 and half cup of water warm. When the water boils, turn off the gas. Now slowly add corn flour and keep mixing the dough. Mix the dough like this and keep it covered for about 10 minutes. Now take out the dough in a plate or plate and try to make it soft by rubbing it with your hands. The flour has to be kneaded for some time. Apply ghee or oil on your hands 1-2 times in between and knead the dough softly. If the dough seems too hard, knead it softly by applying lukewarm water on your hands. Now make a ball of corn flour, apply light dry flour and roll the rotis on a rolling board. In this way you can easily roll rotis. Now put the roti on the pan and cook it from both the sides. Apply 1 spoon ghee on both the chapatis and cook on the pan itself. This will keep the roti very soft. Corn bread made in Punjabi style is ready. You eat them with mustard greens.
