Chief Minister Rekha Gupta laid the foundation of Atal Garden development works in Uttam Nagar.
New Delhi. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday along with Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Pravesh Verma laid the foundation stone for the development work of Atal Garden in Uttam Nagar. On this occasion, he said that this park will become a beautiful and accessible place for families, children, elderly and youth, where everyone will be able to spend quality time.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that the Atal Garden project is inspired by the idea of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee that development is done by maintaining a balance with nature and culture. He informed that the neglected land located near Najafgarh drain is being converted into an attractive and modern park.
He informed that pond, Chhath Ghat, 12 feet high statue of Atal Bihari Vajpayee and attractive fountain will be installed in Atal Garden. Along with this, facilities of greenery, landscaping, open plaza, walking pathway, amphitheater, playground for children and food court will also be developed. Proper arrangements for public stage, toilets and security will also be made in the park.
Meanwhile, PWD Minister Pravesh Verma said that the people of Uttam Nagar had been demanding a good park for a long time. Delhi Government has sanctioned a budget of Rs 10 crore for this and the development work has started, which will be completed in the next four months. He said that this place will soon become a major tourist destination of Uttam Nagar. Besides, many other development works related to water and sewer are also going on in the area.
Accusing the previous government, the PWD Minister said that no concrete development work was done in Uttam Nagar for a long time. He said that encroachment continued on the remaining land and if the previous government had wanted, better facilities could have been developed here, but it was not done.
Many dignitaries including MP Kamaljit Sehrawat, MLA Pawan Sharma, Sandeep Sehrawat, Shyam Sharma and District President Raj Sharma were present in the program.
