Before peace talks, Russia launched a major attack on Ukraine, shook Kiev with missiles and drones.

Kiev. Before the important peace meeting to be held in Florida on Sunday between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Zelensky, Russia has launched a major attack on Ukraine. On December 27, Russia launched rapid missile and drone attacks on Ukraine’s capital Kiev. Several explosions were heard in the city and surrounding areas.

This was supposed to be the most important weekend in the context of the Russia-Ukraine war that has been going on for the last four years, but it started on Friday with the sound of air raid sirens in the Ukrainian capital Kiev. According to the media group Kyiv Independent, on the night of December 7, Russia fired several hypersonic missiles, four ballistic missiles and several cruise missiles at Kiev, following which there was a large-scale ballistic missile attack.

Multiple explosions were heard in the capital and Kyiv Oblast. The attack damaged part of a high-rise building in Vyshhorod, about five kilometers north of Kyiv, while several warehouses as well as two cars were damaged in the Borispol district of Kyiv Oblast.

Kyiv Oblast Governor Mykola Kalashnik confirmed the Russian attack, saying critical infrastructure had once again been attacked. One person was injured and taken to hospital in the attack in Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast in western Ukraine. Meanwhile, Ukraine’s Air Force has warned of the continued threat of Russian drones and missiles in several areas. The Air Force found drones active in Kyiv and surrounding areas. According to the Air Force, drones were seen over the city of Kiev, while drone activity was also recorded in the western areas of Velika Dimerka and Pereyaslav village in the Kiev region.

Before Russia’s latest attack, Ukrainian President Zelensky had said on Friday that a meeting with Trump could lead to steps towards a peace agreement. A 20-point peace plan drafted by Ukrainian and US officials is almost ready. Whereas American Donald Trump said that no peace agreement will be implemented without his approval. It is noteworthy that amid diplomatic efforts to stop the Russia-Ukraine war that has been going on for the last four years, important peace talks between US President Trump and Ukrainian President Zelensky are going to be held in Florida on Sunday. Many countries of the world, including America, are making diplomatic efforts to stop the Russia-Ukraine war, including India.
