Municipal Council Executive Officer Srichand Choudhary suddenly inspected the night shelter built on the roadways and the shelter home built in Hardauli near Jawahar Nagar and the arrangements for the bonfire burning in the city late last night. During this, he saw the arrangement of free shelter home for the homeless and destitute people of urban areas under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana. And while looking at the register on the spot, while interrogating the administrators and employees present there, he directed them and said that there should not be any kind of chaos and looking at everything from the same perspective, all the destitute people should not face any problem. The executive officer inquired about the arrangements from the local people living there about the arrangements, on which they said that they liked the entire arrangements here.
Executive Officer Srichandra said that under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana, free shelter homes have been arranged for the homeless and destitute people of urban areas. This shelter home is being operated in Hardauli, Banda (Uttar Pradesh), near Jawahar Nagar, where safe accommodation is being provided to the needy. In this shelter home, free accommodation is being provided to destitute people living in railway stations, bus stations, hospitals, places of worship, road tracks, footpaths, parks, construction sites, bridges, shop platforms and huge pipes. Housing arrangements have been ensured for about 198 urban homeless through a total of 78 shelter homes.
He told that the shelter home remains open 24 hours (24×7) in all seasons. Here, strong arrangements have been made for pure drinking water, cleanliness, adequate bathroom and toilet facilities, quality lighting and fire fighting and security. Along with this, first aid facilities have also been made available. Community kitchen, utensils and necessary arrangements are available in the shelter home. Besides, through coordination, the dependents are also being connected with facilities like social security, medical services and financial inclusion.
