BCCI announced the team for South Africa tour
Delhi: The Indian Under-19 team has to tour South Africa before the ICC Under-19 World Cup to be jointly hosted by Zimbabwe and Namibia in the year 2026, where it has to play a three-match Youth ODI series against the host team. BCCI has announced Team India’s squad for this three-match series, in which the responsibility of captaincy has been handed over to 14-year-old young batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi, behind which the board has also given reasons for giving him this responsibility.
Vaibhav got the responsibility due to Ayush Mhatre not being fit
BCCI has also announced the team for the three-match Youth ODI series against South Africa along with the Under-19 World Cup on December 27. At the same time, BCCI informed about the main reason behind making Vaibhav Suryavanshi the captain for the series against South Africa that Ayush Mhatre and Vihaan Malhotra will not participate in this series due to wrist injuries. Both Ayush and Vihaan will report to the BCCI Center of Excellence regarding their injuries and after that they will join the squad ahead of the ICC Under-19 World Cup.
