Today’s weather: will it rain tomorrow or not? IMD’s new update

New Delhi. There was dense fog in the capital Delhi on Tuesday morning, but the weather cleared as the day progressed. There were light clouds at some places, while at many places the day was sunny. Compared to Monday, an increase was recorded in the minimum and maximum temperatures.

Road, air and rail traffic remained affected due to fog in the morning. Moderate to dense fog is also predicted on 31st December, the last day of the year. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert regarding this. At the same time, there is a possibility of light rain or drizzle at many places on January 1.

Fog had started spreading since Tuesday night and it continued in the morning also. This morning there will be fog in other cities of NCR including Delhi. But visibility was better than the previous day. At 8.30 am, visibility is expected to be 250 meters at Indira Gandhi International Airport and 100 meters at Safdarjung.

Visibility was only 50 meters yesterday morning. 118 flights had to be canceled due to fog. 400 flights were delayed. At the same time, more than 75 trains reached Delhi with a delay of two to 16 hours.

The minimum temperature on Tuesday was recorded at 9.4 degrees Celsius, which was 2.6 degrees Celsius higher than Monday. Similarly, the maximum temperature was 21.5 degrees Celsius, which is 1.1 degrees Celsius higher. The weather is expected to remain similar on Wednesday also. After that there may be some increase in temperature for two days.

According to the Meteorological Department, there are chances of light rain or drizzle along with cloudy sky in NCR including Delhi on January 1. The Meteorological Department says that conditions of a western disturbance are being created in the western Himalayan region. Its effect can be seen in the plains on 31 December and 1 January.

December this year was warmer than normal
December this year has been warmer than normal. The average maximum temperature of the month has been recorded at 23.3 degrees i.e. 0.5 degrees more than the normal of 22.8 degrees. Earlier it was 22.6 degrees in 2022 and 23.8 degrees in 2023. Similarly, the average minimum temperature this December has been 8.2 degrees i.e. 0.2 degrees more than the normal 8.0 degrees. It was recorded at 8.4 degrees in 2022 and 8.8 degrees in 2023. According to the Meteorological Department, like 2024, this December too there was no rainfall, nor was any cold day recorded.

Delhi’s air is in very poor category
After two days, the pollution level in the capital reduced slightly. On Sunday night and Monday, Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) was more than 400 i.e. in the severe category. On Tuesday it came down to 388 i.e. very poor category. According to Sameer App of Delhi Pollution Control Centre, out of 38 monitoring centers in the capital, 11 were in serious category. Anand Vihar was the most polluted with AQI of 454.
