Massive fire in Nainital early in the morning, 6 vehicles turned into ashes along with explosion in petrol tanks

Nainital. The year 2025 was the year of at least three major accidents in Nainital and on the last day of the year also a major fire occurred here. Today, in the early morning of 31st December, a major fire accident took place near the garage behind BD Pandey District Hospital, in which 6 two-wheelers were completely burnt to mere structures along with the explosion in the petrol tanks. It is a matter of relief that there was no person at the spot at the time of the incident, hence there was no loss of life and the fire was extinguished by the fire forces before it could spread to the office of the Health Director of Kumaon Division located nearby etc.

According to the information received, the fire may have started around 3:30 in the morning. First of all, a person named Nahid saw the vehicles on fire with very loud explosions from his house and immediately informed the fire brigade at 4.10 pm. As soon as the information was received, the fire brigade under the leadership of the fire officer immediately reached the spot. By then the empty garage made of wood and tin had caught fire, and three motorcycles and three scooters parked on the road outside it had been reduced to ashes. Fire fighting forces brought the fire under control at around 5 pm after about 1 hour of hard work. Most of the vehicles that were burnt in the fire do not even have insurance. In such a situation, they have suffered huge financial loss. An electric line was passing over the place where the fire broke out. Due to the fire, the power line also got burnt and the power supply in the entire area around the ropeway cable car station was also disrupted.

There was a general discussion that the vehicles might have caught fire due to a short circuit caused by the power line, however, Deputy Divisional Officer of the Electricity Department, Paryank Pandey, ruled out this possibility and said that there is not much load on the power line at night, due to which sparks may arise. And even if this happens, there is no possibility of vehicles burning on the ground. On the other hand, the fire department has said that it will investigate the cause of the fire.
