Tehran: New Year was welcomed in Iran with protests. Although the protests of youth against the government in Iran have been going on for the last four days, but today, on the first day of the year, lakhs of people took to the streets together from Tehran to other cities of Iran. Apart from the Iranian capital Tehran, thousands of people also took to the streets in the cities of Isfahan, Yazd, Kohdast, Zanjan and Fasa to express their protest against the Iranian regime. People in Iran are protesting against the continuously increasing inflation, unemployment and poor condition of the economy. It is being claimed that the protesters and government security forces have opened fire on each other, after which the news of death of many people is also coming to the fore.
Clashes also took place between protesters and police in many areas, in Kohdast city a mob attacked police personnel, one policeman was killed in the attack, while more than 10 were injured. Due to these demonstrations, the risk of a coup has increased in Iran.
Why are protests taking place in Iran?
America and western countries have imposed various types of sanctions against Iran, its effect is now visible on Iran’s economy. People are not getting jobs, sources of income are disappearing, inflation is increasing and the situation is such that people do not even have money to buy food items, so now the people of Iran are on the streets.
In fact, America and European countries have imposed sanctions on Iran since the Islamic Revolution of 1979. Barack Obama had removed some economic sanctions on Iran after the nuclear deal. But, Donald Trump imposed sanctions again in 2018, due to the sanctions, Iran’s financial condition has become worse. In June this year, there was a 12-day war between Iran and Israel. On the last day, America also bombed Iran’s nuclear sites. After that, Iran stopped cooperation with international organizations in the nuclear sector.
After this, America and European countries imposed new sanctions on Iran, due to which the value of Iran’s currency Rial has fallen a lot. The American dollar which was available for around 8 lakh riyals a year ago, is now worth around 15 lakh riyals.
There has been chaos in Iran for four days
It started from the capital Tehran four days ago. First of all, the businessmen of Tehran took out a protest march against the deteriorating business conditions. After this, students of Tehran University also joined the protest against traders, then this fire of protest spread to other cities and now protesters are on the streets all over Iran.
Similarly, in Fasa city of Fars, southern province of Iran, angry people attacked the Governor’s office, causing considerable damage to the Governor’s office. To prevent the mob from entering the Governor’s office. Security forces had to open fire, in which many people are feared dead. This increased people’s anger even more. However, the Iranian government is claiming that the police fired in self-defense.
Inflation rate sky high, drinking water shortage
At present the inflation rate in Iran is 50 percent, apart from this, there is a huge shortage of water in Iran’s capital Tehran and other cities, the dams are drying up, due to which the electricity supply has also been adversely affected. Now seeing the anger of the people, the government of Iran is also on the back foot. Today the Iranian government said that it is concerned about the people, the government is listening to the protesters and is trying to resolve the public issues as soon as possible.
Iran’s President made big allegations against America
Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian admitted that it was not within his power to improve the country’s economic condition and he could not perform any miracles. The President said that the people of Iran know the ground reality. But some forces are supporting the conspiracy of Iran’s enemy countries and these protests are part of that conspiracy. The President of Iran said that whatever is happening is happening at the behest of America. Countries like America are constantly trying to weaken Iran. But Iran is not a country that bows before anyone. The President of Iran said that Iran is currently fighting a full scale war, therefore, the people of the country need to remain united.
