Team India started with victory in ODI series

Vadodara: The Indian cricket team has started its campaign in the new year i.e. the year 2026 with a win. Team India defeated New Zealand by 4 wickets in the first ODI match played at BCA, Vadodara. With this victory, the Indian team has taken a 1-0 lead in the 3-match ODI series. Star Indian batsman Virat Kohli was the hero of this victory, who played a brilliant inning of 93 runs. He faced 91 balls and hit 8 fours and 1 six. Apart from Virat Kohli, captain Shubman Gill scored a brilliant half-century while Shreyas Iyer missed out on scoring a half-century. Iyer played an inning of 49 runs.

Team India got the target of 301 runs
After losing the toss and opting to bat first, the New Zealand team was given a good start by openers Devon Conway and Henry Nicholls. Both scored brilliant half-centuries. There was a brilliant century partnership between this opening pair. Together they made a partnership of 117 runs for the first wicket. Conway played an inning of 56 runs and Henry played an inning of 62 runs. After this Daryl Mitchell played an inning of 84 runs. In this way, the New Zealand team was successful in scoring 300 runs by losing 8 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs. For the Indian team, Mohammed Siraj, Harshit Rana and Prasidh Krishna took 2-2 wickets while spinner Kuldeep Yadav got one success.

The match between India and New Zealand went till the 49th over. At one time, Team India’s victory seemed easy and it seemed that Kohli would be able to win the team by scoring a century, but then Kyle Jamieson gave a big blow to India by dismissing Kohli on the first ball of the 40th over. Ravindra Jadeja was out cheaply on the last ball of this over and returned to the pavilion. After this, Shreyas Iyer also walked in the 42nd over and Team India was in trouble. After Iyer returned to the pavilion, fast bowler Harshit Rana entered the field. Rana played a short but important innings of 29 runs with the bat. After this, KL Rahul along with Washington Sundar hit a six on the last ball of the 49th over and gave Team India victory by 4 wickets. KL returned unbeaten after scoring 29 runs.
