In a liquor dispute, a young man was killed with a brick and burnt with Mobil oil.

Meerut: The half-burnt body of Muzaffarnagar resident Sonu Kashyap alias Ranu was found in the forest of Akkhepur located in Sardhana police station area. After identification, the police started investigation and within 24 hours arrested the main accused tempo driver.

Investigation revealed that the deceased and the accused had consumed alcohol while sitting together, after which, in a dispute, the accused attacked Ranu with a brick and killed her. To hide the identity, the accused poured Mobil oil on the body, burnt it and threw it in the forest. At present, the police have registered a case under sections of murder and sent the accused to jail.

Sardhana MLA and SP leader Atul Pradhan has raised serious questions regarding this incident. He released a video calling it a heart-wrenching incident and claimed that the bullies killed the young man by burning him alive.

Atul Pradhan met the victim’s family and expressed his condolences and announced a financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh. He provided immediate assistance of Rs 25 thousand on the spot and raised the demand for strictest action against the culprits.

Meerut SSP Dr. Vipin Tada, amidst the claims of the MLA, said that the deceased Ranu was the only support of his family and was living at his aunt’s place. On the basis of evidence and CCTV footage from the spot, the police arrested the tempo driver with whom Ranu was last seen.

The accused confessed that during a fight while drinking alcohol, he hit Ranu on the head with a brick and later burnt her to destroy her identity.
