Police recovered drug money and heroin worth lakhs from across the border, smuggler arrested

Chandigarh. Amritsar Commissionerate Police has busted a major module smuggling arms and drugs from across the border. Five accused associated with this network have been arrested. Punjab Police Director General Gaurav Yadav said on Monday that the police had received intelligence about smuggling of illegal weapons and narcotics from across the border in Amritsar area.

On this, the Commissionerate Police took immediate action and conducted a raid and arrested five accused associated with this network. According to the DGP, the police have recovered 6 modern pistols, 10 live cartridges, 115 grams of heroin and drug money worth Rs 11 lakh 90 thousand from the possession of the accused.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the arrested accused were involved in illegal arms and drug smuggling for a long time and were linked to the smuggling network operating from across the border. In this case, FIR has been registered under Arms Act and NDPS Act in Police Station Cantonment, Amritsar. The police are now interrogating the accused thoroughly, so that other smugglers and kingpins associated with this network can be reached.
