Vishal Bhardwaj thanks Team O’Romeo
In the first slide, Vishal thanked his team. He wrote, ‘Before the critics come in and the box office results come in, I want to share my deep pride in this film. Before the praise and criticism come, I would like to wholeheartedly thank all my Heads of Departments who showed their vision, honesty, sweat, blood and unwavering dedication towards my dream. The filmmaker further wrote, ‘My real heroes: Mustafa Stationwala, Farmarz Vankadia, Ben Bernhard, Meghdeep Bose, Arif Shaikh, Maxima Basu, Danny del Rosario, Vikram Dahiya, Ankur Chaudhary, Yash Darji, Shantanu Yenemadi, Krutika Jain, Mukesh Chhabra, Makarand Surte, Justin Jose, Sameer Zaidi, Constantin Minnich, Saurabh Goswami and Anil Arsu.’ Also, my dearest colleague Abhay Dutt Sharma, who shared my love, pain, despair and all kinds of reasonable and silly desires of mine, and Preeti Shahani, my creative producer. I will not make any more films without him.
O’Romeo is a reflection of my love and violence: Vishal Bhardwaj
Delving deeper, Vishal shed light on his relationship with O’Romeo. ‘Through this film, I have realized within me the immense capacity for both love and violence. Looking back over my work, I see a recurring theme that I wasn’t even conscious of before—revenge. And at sixty years old, I’m only now beginning to understand it. There is so much hatred, violence and injustice in society and I often feel powerless in the face of it. This hurts me deeply. This suppressed pain needed release. In O’Romeo, through my hero, I slash throats, crack skulls and blow out the brains of demons I cannot face in real life,’ wrote the composer-director-producer.
Love is the complete opposite of violence
Vishal Bhardwaj further wrote in the note, ‘In contrast to this violence stands an equally intense force – love. A love that is born from a lifetime of experiences with beautiful, sensitive souls who have shaped me. A love that did not let me drown. A love that brought me out of the ocean of blood. I love this species called humans – who are always torn between two extreme emotions. O’Romeo is a symbol of these poles. Vishal Bhardwaj reflected on the emotional ups and downs that shaped O’Romeo. The filmmaker concluded his post, writing, ‘This is as broad as it can be, as artistic as it is. As violent as it may be, it is equally poetic. As loving as it may be, it is equally vindictive. This journey has ended on such a beautiful note that these feelings deserve to be shared, no matter the outcome.
