PM Modi’s plane will land today on the runway built as a highway in Assam, fighter jets will also be able to take flight
Guwahati. Today a new chapter is going to be added to the strategic power of the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will land at 10:30 am in a special Air Force aircraft at the emergency landing facility on Moran Bypass in Dibrugarh district of Assam. With the landing of Prime Minister Modi, this strip located on the highway will become a part of the strategic network of the Air Force.
This 4.2 kilometer long airstrip built on the national highway is the first such facility in the North-East, from where fighter and transport aircraft of the Air Force can be operated in emergency situations. This facility built on Moran Bypass will also prove important during humanitarian aid and disaster relief operations in remote areas. This strip can bear the weight of fighter aircraft like Rafale and Sukhoi weighing up to 40 tonnes and heavy cargo aircraft up to 74 tonnes. Location on Moran Bypass This airstrip is strategically important as it is very close to the China border. There are main airbases like Chabua and Tezpur, where in case of technical problems, the enemy can be responded to from these strips also.

After the arrival of the Prime Minister, a grand air show of modern fighter aircraft like Rafale, Sukhoi-30 MKI and Tejas as well as transport aircraft and helicopters will be organized by the Air Force. In view of the Prime Minister’s visit and landing of planes, the entire Moran Bypass area has been declared a no fly zone.
Will gift projects worth Rs 5,450 crore
PM Modi will launch projects worth over Rs 5,450 crore at Lachit Ghat in Guwahati at 1:30 pm. It aims to speed up connectivity, strengthen digital infrastructure, promote higher education and improve public transport. The Prime Minister will inaugurate the Kumar Bhaskar Verma Bridge on the Brahmaputra River, built at an expense of approximately Rs 3,030 crore. With this 6-lane bridge, the travel time between Guwahati and North Guwahati will reduce to just 7 minutes. After this, the PM will inaugurate the state-of-the-art National Data Center of the North-Eastern Region at Amingaon in Kamrup district. Apart from these, PM will also inaugurate IIM Guwahati. Also, under the PM-eBus service scheme, he will dispatch a total of 225 electric buses to Guwahati (100), Nagpur (50), Bhavnagar (50) and Chandigarh (25). With this, more than 50 lakh citizens are expected to benefit from affordable public transport services.
