Horrible road accident in Karachi, 13 killed, 9 injured

Karachi: A major road accident occurred on Friday on the M9 Super Highway (M9 Motorway) outside Karachi city in Sindh province of Pakistan. At least 13 people died and 9 were injured in this accident. The incident took place near Ansari Bridge, which is located on the main highway from Karachi to Hyderabad.

Due to this the accident happened
The accident occurred when a speeding passenger bus was coming from the wrong side. The bus collided with a large oil tanker while climbing the bridge. The collision was so strong that both the tanker and the bus were badly damaged. After this, another bus also collided with the tanker and many other vehicles also collided one after the other.

During the collision, a big pile-up (Chain Collision) occurred, in which many vehicles collided with each other. Some passengers have also died due to falling from the bridge. Area police officer Khalid Samojo said that after the accident, 10 bodies were first sent to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital in Karachi. Later the death toll increased to 13. The injured people are also being admitted to the same hospital where the condition of some is said to be critical. The dead and injured included women, children and some pedestrians.

What was found in the initial police investigation?
Initial investigation by the police has revealed that this accident happened mainly due to the mistake of the driver of the passenger bus. The driver drove the bus at high speed from the wrong side and lost control while coming to the bridge. The situation worsened after the collision with the tanker. Such road accidents are very common in Pakistan, especially on highways.

Accidents happen due to these reasons
There are many reasons for road accidents in Pakistan like it is very easy to get driving license for commercial vehicles (like bus and truck). Drivers do not have complete knowledge of road safety rules. Many roads are old and in bad condition, due to which the risk of accidents increases. Habits like speeding, overloading and wrong side driving are also common.
