Traffic restricted on roads around Pashupatinath area in view of Mahashivratri in Kathmandu
Kathmandu. All preparations have been completed in Pashupatinath temple area for the Mahashivratri festival in Nepal on Sunday. Vehicular movement on all main and secondary roads around the Pashupatinath temple area has been completely banned from Saturday midnight to Sunday midnight.
Officials said that painting, cleaning and other maintenance works have been completed in the Pashupati complex. A large number of saints and sages have already reached the temple area. In view of the potentially huge crowd of devotees, security agencies have finalized crowd management plans. For smooth movement of devotees and visitors and to facilitate the puja, Kathmandu Traffic Police Office has prepared a special traffic management plan.
According to the traffic police, arrangements have been made for parking of vehicles of devotees coming for Pashupati darshan. Movement of vehicles will be restricted in the Gaushala area. In such a situation, alternative routes will be implemented for smooth transportation.
Traffic has been completely banned in Chabhil, Gaushala and Tilganga areas of Kathmandu so that the devotees coming to Pashupatinath do not face any problem. Today, the traffic police issued a public notice in all the newspapers informing about the implementation of diversion plans as per requirement around the Pashupatinath temple area.
According to Kathmandu Traffic Police chief SSP Navraj Adhikari, all types of vehicles coming from Tinkune towards Sinamangal, from Buddhist area towards Gaurighat, from Old Baneshwar to Gaushala and from Naxal area to Mitrapark have been banned.
Vehicles coming from Bagmati corridor and Chabahill via Jorpati will be directed towards the designated parking places around Guhyeshwari.
If the jam increases at Gaushala Chowk, then alternative routes will be implemented for vehicles going to Gaushala from Chabhill to Gaushala, Old Baneshwar to Gaushala and from Dnyaneshwar-Maitidevi Junction via Ratopul. If necessary, vehicles moving from Siphal Chowk towards Jai Bageshwari will also be diverted through other routes.
