Opium cultivation found among mustard fields: Plants worth Rs 2 crore seized

Jaipur. Under the special campaign Operation Shikanja being run by Rajasthan Police, a major action has been taken against illegal drugs in Karauli district. This special arrest operation was conducted under the direction of Karauli Superintendent of Police Lokesh Sonwal.

At the district level, supervision was done by Additional Superintendents of Police Gumnaram and Satendrapal Singh. Police raided Dhaurera Haar of Kaila Devi police station area and recovered 6067 kg of illegal opium green plants and arrested two people. The value of these plants in the international market is estimated to be around Rs 2 crore.

SP Sonwal said that the smugglers had adopted a cunning method to fool the police. The accused had sown tall and dense mustard crops in their fields and had done illegal opium cultivation right in the middle of it so that no one could suspect anything.

When the police team entered the fields on the accurate information of the informer, they were stunned to see a huge amount of opium plants there. In this action led by Kailadevi police station officer Ram Avtar Meena, the police have arrested two main accused from the spot.

2955.400 kg of opium plants were recovered from the farm of accused Chaursingh Meena (37) and 3112.400 kg of opium plants were recovered from the farm of Mankesh alias Pintu Meena (32). Police have seized these plants by filling them in a total of 285 plastic bags. The search for another accused Ghanshyam alias Ghasu Meena involved in the incident is going on.

In this entire operation, the police followed the new criminal law and used the e-evidence app. The entire videography of the search and seizure was uploaded to the cloud so that the evidence could not be tampered with. Revenue records were also confirmed by calling Naib Tehsildar Muniram Meena and Halka Patwari on the spot. The police are now finding out where the opium was to be extracted from these plants and supplied and which other big faces are involved behind this network.
