Kolkata. Defending champions Mohun Bagan Super Giants made a winning start to the new season of the Indian Super League (ISL) by defeating Kerala Blasters FC 2-0. This ISL match was held at Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Kridangan in Kolkata, where the home team controlled the game most of the time.
In the first half, Mohun Bagan adopted an aggressive approach and kept the opposition defense under pressure. They got the benefit of this in the 36th minute, when striker Jamie MacLaren capitalized on the opportunity to give the team the lead. In the second half, Kerala tried to make a comeback and made some quick attacks from the wing, but they did not get the equalizing goal.
