9 year old boy dies due to drowning in canal in Tarda Jangalpara of Korba

Korba. A 9-year-old boy died due to drowning in a canal in an accident on Sunday afternoon in village Tarda Mohalla Jangalpara under Urga police station area of ​​the district. The deceased child has been identified as Roshan Kanwar. As soon as information about the incident was received, Urga police station reached the spot and started investigation.

According to the information, Roshan Kanwar was a resident of Kothari Kachora. His father Vishnu Kanwar works as a laborer and a farmer. Roshan had come to his relatives’ place in Tarda village for a few days. On Sunday afternoon he had gone to the canal with his aunt and grandmother to take a bath. While bathing, he allegedly said that he knew how to swim and during this he jumped into the fast flowing canal.

According to eyewitnesses, the flow of the canal was very fast. As soon as the child jumped into the water, the current carried him away. People present nearby tried to save him, but could not succeed due to the strong current and he disappeared from sight.

After the incident, police and villagers started searching for the child. After a search of about three hours, his body was recovered near Pantora, which falls in Janjgir-Champa district area. The police have taken possession of the dead body and started Panchnama proceedings.

Urga police station in-charge Rajesh Tiwari said that the statements of the relatives of the deceased have been recorded and further legal action is being taken in the case. There is an atmosphere of mourning in the family and village after the incident.
