Korba. The tenure of one year of Mayor Smt. Sanjudevi Rajput, who worked shoulder to shoulder with Industries Minister Lakhanlal Dewangan for the development of energy city Korba, was full of achievements.
During this period, the city achieved many important achievements, on the one hand, remarkable work was done in the direction of roads, water, electricity, cleanliness, horticulture, environmental protection and city beautification.
During the one year tenure of Mrs. Sanjudevi Rajput, Mayor of Municipal Corporation Korba, she worked shoulder to shoulder with the local MLA and State Industries Minister Lakhanlal Dewangan for the development of Korba and gave new energy, right pace and direction to the development of Korba. The tenure of 02 years 01 months of the tenure of Industry, Commerce, Labour, Excise and Public Enterprises Minister Lakhanlal Dewangan, who has been holding the responsibility of important departments of the state under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, is almost nearing completion.
During this period, 573 new development works related to roads, drains, water, electricity and other important needs and facilities have been approved in all 67 wards of Municipal Corporation Kairaba, out of which some works are nearing completion, some are in progress and some are under process. Along with these approved development works worth about Rs 100 crores, which fulfill the small and big needs of the ward, during this period, approval of about Rs 800 crores has been given for other big projects and big development works and the process of giving shape to these development works is going on at the ground level.
Korba included in top 10 cleanest cities of the country
The important achievement of 01 year of Mayor Sanjudevi Rajput has been that Korba was included in the top-10 cleanest cities of the country in the Swachh Survekshan 2025 and earned the honor of 08th place in the country in the cleanliness ranking. In the last one year, qualitative improvement was seen in the cleanliness system of the city and garbage dumping points of the city were eliminated. Today, small gardens are visible in place of these dumping points. During this period of 01 year, the system of door-to-door waste collection has been strengthened and proper management of waste has also been ensured. The resources were updated, while 80 pieces of electronic rickshaws were included in the resource fleet for waste collection, while 02 pieces of modern mobile toilets were also made available.
To bring public awareness towards cleanliness and to make people aware about making cleanliness and hygiene their lifestyle, a historic event of ‘Signing of Cleanliness Pledge’ was organized by the Corporation. A world record was created by more than 15500 citizens signing a single 280 meter long banner in just 20 minutes and our Korba’s name got registered in the golden pages of the Golden Book of World Records.
One of the important achievements of Mayor Smt. Sanjudevi Rajput’s tenure of 01 year has been that in the near future, Hasdev River, the lifeblood of Korba, will be free from pollution. 33 MLD in Korba. Capacity sewerage treatment plant is being built, there are 11 big drains of the city through which the polluted water of the entire city flows and this polluted water meets the Hasdev river and pollutes its water. The polluted water will be treated in this sewerage treatment plant and converted into pure water. NTPC will use this purified water for its plant operations etc. After the sewerage treatment plant is started, there will be no polluted water in Hasdev River and Hasdev River will be free from pollution forever.
