Our revered saints gave spiritual direction to the society by living a joyful life with sacrifice and penance. Even today his words and meditation light the lamp of peace, faith and God-realization in our hearts.
Sushil Kumar Shinde, former Union Home Minister, former Chief Minister of India and Maharashtra came to visit Parmarth Niketan. Participated in the world famous Aarti of Ganga ji in the holy presence of Swami. Swamiji said that his public life is an inspiring example of dedication, simplicity and public service. He served the nation and the state with administrative efficiency, sensitive leadership and devotion to democratic values. As Chief Minister, he played an important role in the development, social harmony and strengthening of infrastructure of Maharashtra, while as the Union Home Minister, he gave priority to national security, internal peace and good governance.
Sushil Kumar Shinde ji said that Parmarth Niketan is truly such a divine ashram that provides peace, where the mind becomes happy as soon as you come. Various contemporary topics were discussed with Pujya Swamiji. The intensity of his thoughts and the brilliance of his thinking are amazing.
Swami Chidanand Saraswati ji said that devotion is the supreme happiness of life. This is the divine power that makes the mind pure, the intellect sharp and the soul conscious. A heart immersed in devotion becomes a source of love, peace and light, freed from fear, stress and ego. This is the best way to meet God. The life of Swami Ramakrishna Paramahamsa ji was a living proof of this truth. His every moment was dedicated at the feet of Mother Goddess in the Kali temple of Dakshineshwar. There was child-like simplicity in his devotion, immense faith in his mother and complete dedication. They experienced seeing God, talking to Him and living Him. For him, devotion was a personal experience. When he was absorbed in the meditation of Mother Kali, the difference between the seeker and the achieved was erased. The tears flowing from his eyes, the smile on his lips and his self-absorbed state showed that true devotion is the door to supreme bliss.

On the other hand, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu did not limit devotion only to temples, but took it to the hearts of every person. He made Harinam Sankirtan a medium of social and spiritual revolution. While dancing and singing on the streets, echoing the name of ‘Hare Krishna’, he told the people that God is not far away, but resides in our hearts. His kirtan was also a celebration. His love and compassion created a new consciousness by eliminating discrimination, ego and despair in the society.

The lives of these two great saints give us the message that the path of devotion is not difficult but joyful. The path to God is paved more with love and simplicity than by sacrifice and harshness. When we chant the name, do kirtan, do service, the inner tension, anger and fear automatically starts ending. Devotion lifts us above external circumstances and provides inner peace, satisfaction and joy.

This message becomes even more relevant in today’s fast-paced, stressful and materialistic age. In the race of modern life, man is searching for happiness, but peace is going away from him. At such times, the words of the saints remind us that true happiness does not lie in external things, but in connecting with others from within. Devotion connects us to ourselves, connects us to society and connects us to the cultural roots of the nation. The core of our eternal culture is love, service and spiritual practice. When society connects with devotion, compassion increases, families become stronger and the nation is energized.
Swami Chidanand Saraswati ji said that now the time has come that we should revive the tradition of bhajan-kirtan in our homes. Connect the youth to their roots. Inculcate devotion in your behavior and actions. Let us take a pledge with the inspiration of these divine saints that we will illuminate our lives with the light of devotion and spread the message of love, peace and harmony in the society. This would be a true tribute to him.
