T20 World Cup: The group stage matches of the T20 World Cup 2026 ended, after which the Super-8 matches will start from February 20. The names of all the eight teams making their place in it have been finalised, out of which the most competition is going to be seen in Team India’s group. The teams that have reached the Super-8 have been divided into two separate groups of 4 each, for which the ICC had already decided which team would get a place in which group. In such a situation, the other three teams that have got a place in the Indian team’s group have also not faced defeat in a single match in the group stage. In such a situation, we can expect to see a tremendous competition between the teams competing in this group. Whereas the four teams in the second group, which apart from Pakistan, include New Zealand, England and Sri Lanka, all of them have faced defeat in at least one match in the group stage.
Team India defeated Pakistan, USA, Namibia and Netherlands
If we talk about the performance of the Indian team in the group stage, they played their first match against the USA team, which they managed to win by 29 runs. After this, Team India won the match played against Namibia by a huge margin of 93 runs. In the match against Pakistan also, the Indian team continued its winning campaign and registered a spectacular victory by 61 runs and in the last match of the group stage, Team India defeated Netherlands by 17 runs and finished at the first position in the Group-A table.
Zimbabwe defeated Oman, Australia and Sri Lanka
The Zimbabwe team, included in Group-B, was not being taken very seriously before the start of the T20 World Cup 2026, but they proved everyone wrong and not only confirmed their place in the Super-8, but also finished on top of the Group-B table. Zimbabwe defeated Oman by 8 wickets in their first match in the group stage, after which they pulled off a big upset by defeating Australia by 23 runs. Zimbabwe’s match against Ireland was washed out due to rain, while in the last match of the group stage against Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe managed to win by 6 wickets.
West Indies registered wins against England, Scotland, Italy and Nepal
The West Indies team, which has won the T20 World Cup trophy twice, was not in much better form before the start of the tournament, but they played brilliantly in the group stage and registered a one-sided victory. The West Indies team first won the match against Scotland by 35 runs, after that they defeated England by 30 runs, in the third match, West Indies defeated Nepal one-sidedly by 9 wickets while they won the match against Italy by 42 runs and finished on top in Group C with 8 points.
South Africa registered wins against New Zealand, Canada, Afghanistan and UAE
The South African team, which faced defeat against the Indian team in the final of the 2024 T20 World Cup, has seen an undefeated campaign in the group stage so far this time. The African team first defeated Canada by 57 runs in Group D and then won the second match against Afghanistan in a double super over. The African team played the third match against New Zealand and managed to win it by 7 wickets, while in the fourth match they defeated UAE by 6 wickets.
