PM Modi reaches Israel on state visit, will speech in Knesset

New Delhi/Tel Aviv. After a gap of almost nine years, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached Israel on a state visit. On the first day of the two-day visit, he was warmly welcomed at the airport by his counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu and First Lady Sara Netanyahu. PM Modi was also given ‘Guard of Honour’.

The Prime Minister reached Israel at 12:45 pm local time. On this visit, PM Modi said that he is going on a state visit on the invitation of his friend and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He cited the strong and diverse strategic partnership between India and Israel, which has seen tremendous growth and momentum in recent years.

During the visit, PM Modi will address the Knesset i.e. Israeli Parliament and this will be the first time for any Prime Minister of India. This occasion is being considered to further strengthen the diplomatic and strategic relations between the two countries.

At the time of the Prime Minister’s arrival in Israel, Netanyahu shared a video and wrote, “My dear friend Prime Minister Modi, welcome to Israel.” This visit is PM Modi’s second visit to Israel in the last nine years, which will focus on giving a new direction to the bilateral and strategic cooperation between Israel and India.

During the two-day visit, several events will be organized to strengthen India-Israel partnership in important areas such as energy, security, technical cooperation and trade.
