Trump reiterated, warned Iran, my intervention saved Pak PM’s life
Washington. US President Donald Trump has given a very strict warning to Iran regarding its nuclear program. Trump, in his first ‘State of the Union’ address of his second term, made it clear that his government will not allow Iran to acquire nuclear weapons at any cost. Trump once again reiterated his claim that he has played an important role in ending eight wars so far. He said that a large number of people believe that had it not been for his intervention during Operation Sindoor, the terror network launched by India, the Prime Minister of Pakistan would have died.
Addressing a joint session of Congress, Trump described Iran as the ‘biggest sponsor of terrorism’ and alleged that it is developing missile technology that can directly target America. He indicated that if necessary, the military option would not be avoided, although he also said that the door was open for a diplomatic solution. The only condition kept was that Tehran should publicly commit not to make nuclear weapons.
This statement is considered strategically important amid increasing American military activity in West Asia. On the foreign policy front, Trump also claimed that his intervention has ended eight international conflicts so far. Referring to the tension between India and Pakistan, he said that if it had not been for their intervention, the situation could have reached nuclear conflict. He even said that the life of the Prime Minister of Pakistan was in danger during a military operation, which was averted due to his initiative. He also noted his role in maintaining peace in various regions of Europe, Africa and West Asia and took credit for mediating several conflicts, including the Gaza War.
Trump described his one-year tenure as a period of ‘historic change’. He said that the country has seen a change which was never possible before. Referring to the national ideals from the American Revolution of 1776 till today, he termed it the responsibility of the new generation. According to him, the administration is building a nation where every child gets an opportunity to progress and the government is accountable to the common citizens. On the domestic front, the President described the economy as his biggest achievement. He said expansion in the manufacturing sector, establishment of new factories and large investments are returning to America. According to Trump, trillions of dollars of investment and millions of jobs will be created in the coming time because the policy of ‘America First’ is now in place. He claimed to have brought down prescription drug prices, saying the previous administration was all talk, while his government took concrete steps.
On housing policy, he cited the order prohibiting large investment firms from purchasing thousands of single-family homes and urged Congress to make it permanent law. He also showed a tough stance on corruption and alleged financial scams and assured the safety of taxpayers’ money. On the issue of border security, Trump accused the Democratic Party of reducing Homeland Security funding and demanded its immediate restoration. He said that a tough campaign against dangerous criminals and illegal immigrants will continue.
He also promised to reinvigorate American influence and security architecture in the Western Hemisphere. This address comes at a time when mid-term elections are near in the country and the opposition is continuously attacking the government over inflation.
This speech of Trump is being considered politically important amidst the ongoing legal challenges in the Supreme Court regarding the tariff policy and the rights related to the Federal Reserve. Ruling Republican lawmakers described it as visionary, while the opposition described it as full of claims and controversies.
