The heat of February broke records, IMD report, how will the weather be in the week?

New Delhi. Amidst the rapidly changing weather, February this year has broken the heat record of the last three years. According to Meteorological Department data, the average maximum temperature for February this year was 26.9 degrees Celsius, making it the third warmest February between 2011 and 2025.

Hottest after 2023 and 2021
If we look at the data, only two Februarys since 2011 have been hotter. The average maximum temperature in 2023 was 28.2 °C, and in 2021 it was 27.6 °C. The average maximum temperature this month was 26.9 degrees Celsius, which is much higher than normal.

Dry and hot days: 97% reduction in rainfall
One of the main reasons for the increase in heat this month was the lack of rain. As against the usual 21.3 mm rainfall in February, this year only 0.5 mm rainfall occurred, which is 97 percent less than normal. Friday was the hottest day of this season, with the temperature reaching 31.9 degrees Celsius, 5.8 degrees above normal. The minimum temperature was 13.1 degrees Celsius, 0.6 degrees more than normal. Humidity level remained between 87 to 23 percent.

Beginning of March: Strong winds will provide some relief
According to the estimates of the Meteorological Department, strong winds with a speed of 15 to 25 kmph are expected between March 1 and 5. Although the temperature will remain between 30 to 35 degrees due to sunshine, the winds will prevent it from rising too fast. The sky is expected to remain clear on Saturday. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 31 degrees, while the minimum temperature is expected to be around 14 degrees.
