Hyderabad. England women’s team has reached Hyderabad for the FIH Hockey World Cup 2026 qualifiers. This prestigious tournament will be held in the capital of Telangana from March 8 to 14, where teams from eight countries will compete for a place in the World Cup.
The England team is entering this competition with a rich history. The team has participated in 11 FIH World Cups so far and this time its aim is to get a ticket for the World Cup to be held in Belgium and Netherlands. England’s best performance was in the 2010 edition, when the team won the bronze medal. This time the team will try to move beyond that achievement.
Team captain Flora Peel expressed confidence after reaching Hyderabad. He said that their training camp in England was very successful and before that the team played many competitive matches during the Pro League in China. According to him, the team is currently in great shape and is eagerly waiting for the start of the tournament.
The team also seemed excited about the Indian conditions. Player Lily Walker said that many members of the team have been to India before and are excited about the crowd and atmosphere here. To adjust to the hot weather, the team has made special preparations, including sauna sessions, so that the players are fully prepared for the climate here.
England will have to perform strongly in Pool A to clinch one of the three available World Cup spots. The team will start its campaign against Italy on 8 March, face Korea Republic on 9 March and play the final match of the group stage against Austria on 11 March.
