Death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei: Killed in US-Israel attack, 40 days of national mourning declared

Tehran/Washington. The death of Iran’s 86-year-old Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has been officially confirmed by Iranian state media. This incident took place on Saturday in a joint attack by America and Israel. Iran has declared 40 days of national mourning after the attack. US President Donald Trump described Khamenei as “one of the worst people in history” and called the attack necessary to disable Iran’s nuclear program.

Iranian media reported that several members of Khamenei’s family – his daughter, grandson, daughter-in-law and son-in-law – were also killed in the attack. Khamenei had been Iran’s supreme leader since 1989 and held ultimate power over the country’s governmental, military, and judicial institutions.
After this incident, there were reports of relief and celebration in many parts of Iran. Iranian journalist and activist Masih Alinejad shared the video and expressed joy, calling it a sign of a new beginning.
