Iran’s major drone attack has also targeted the embassies of Kuwait and Jordan.
Riyadh. On Tuesday, Iran carried out its biggest ever drone attack on the US Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. During the attack, the embassy complex caught fire with a massive explosion. The US Embassy was targeted by two drones.
Media group Saudi Gazette quoted the country’s Defense Ministry as saying that 8 drones were destroyed near the cities of Riyadh and Al-Kharj early Tuesday. The spokesperson said that according to initial assessment, the US Embassy in Riyadh was targeted by two drones.
In this incident, minor damage has been caused due to fire in a part of the building. While Saudi Arabia stopped 5 drones targeting Prince Sultan Air Base. Earlier on Monday also, Iran attacked the US embassies in Kuwait and Jordan. Following the attack, fire and smoke were seen at the US Embassy complex in Kuwait.
A day earlier on Monday, there was a drone attack on Saudi Aramco’s oil refinery Ras Tanura, one of the world’s largest refineries. Iran targeted this refinery with Shahed-136 drone. This refinery is an important export terminal on the Gulf coast of Saudi Arabia.
Although there was minor damage in this attack, but out of caution, Saudi Aramco has stopped the operation of the refinery for the time being. It is noteworthy that after the death of Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in the US-Israeli attack, Tehran has intensified missile attacks on Gulf countries.
