Speed ran like time on Yamuna Expressway: Hathras accident took away the hope of two generations from the same family
Agra: A horrific road accident on Yamuna Expressway in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh claimed seven lives. The collision between a speeding car and a bus was so horrific that seven people died on the spot. Confectioner Vijay and his wife Pinky of Chaurangabihad village were also included among them.
This accident was not just a road accident but became a lifelong pain for a family. Six months ago, the disease had snatched away elder son Ajay Baghel. After the death of Ajay, who ran a confectionary shop in Delhi, younger brother Vijay took the responsibility of the entire family. Medicines of old parents Sukhram and Sunita, children’s education, household expenses – everything was on Vijay’s shoulders.
But a phone call on Tuesday morning changed everything. As soon as the news of the accident was heard, there was screams in the house. Sunita kept crying unconsciously – “God, you would have raised me before the sons… Now how will this old age pass?” There is only desolation in Sukhram’s eyes. The two sons on whose support the vehicle of life was running were snatched away within a year.
Of the five sons of the family, one works as a laborer in Ahmedabad, while two are somehow running the household through animal husbandry in the village. But after Ajay, Vijay was the real support. Now that support also broke. Innocent children have also been injured in the accident. One-year-old Lakshya, three-year-old Prachi, eight-year-old Aryan and six-year-old Anshu—the wounds on their bodies are smaller than the wounds in the hearts of the family. The children are undergoing treatment in the hospital and there is mourning in the village.
Ajay’s wife Preeti, who had already lost her husband, has now lost her mind after seeing the death of her brother-in-law and sister-in-law and the condition of the children. Vijay was taking responsibility of the education and future of his brother’s children. Now the question is who will take care of the future of these innocent people?
The eyes of every house in Chaurangabihad village are moist. This time the colors of Holi faded in the village. The hands making sweets have now stopped forever. The tears of parents who saw the funeral of two sons in the same year are asking this question – can there be a bigger sorrow than this for an old parent?
