Naxalite carrying reward of Rs 5 lakh killed in encounter, many destructive materials including rifle recovered

Dantewada. A Naxalite carrying a reward of Rs 5 lakh was killed in an encounter in the forested and hilly area between Gumalnar, Girsapara and Nelgora under Geedam police station area of ​​Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh state. One SLR, one INSAS rifle and one pistol along with a large quantity of cartridges and Naxal material have been recovered from the spot.

In fact, on receiving information about Naxalite activities in the forest, on the instructions of Superintendent of Police Dantewada, a team of DRG and Bastar Fighters personnel was sent under the leadership of Deputy Superintendent of Police (Naxal Ops) Rahul Kumar Uyke. There was a clash between security forces and Naxalites at around 9 pm on March 3.

After the encounter, the soldiers conducted a search operation in the forest the next day. During the search, the body of a male armed Naxalite was found from the encounter site. A large quantity of empty cartridges and Naxal material including one SLR, one Insas rifle and one pistol have been recovered from the spot.

Dantewada SP Gaurav Rai, while confirming the encounter on Thursday, said that the body of the male Naxalite recovered from the encounter site has been identified as Rajesh Punem ACM, member of Bhairamgarh Area Committee, resident of village Burji, police station Gangalur, district Bijapur. Rajesh Punem had a reward of Rs 5 lakh.
