Assam: Both pilots killed in Sukhoi-30 MKI fighter jet crash

Both have been identified as Squadron Leader Anuj and Co-Pilot Lieutenant Purvesh Duragkar. Lieutenant Purvesh was a flying navigator of the IAF. IAF has given official information about the accident through social media. The bodies of both the air force personnel have been found from the accident site.

It is said that both of them suffered fatal injuries in the Sukhoi-30 crash. The IAF has said that the entire Indian Air Force personnel express its condolences on this accident and stand strongly with the bereaved family in this time of grief.

This accident happened around 7 pm on Thursday night. After losing contact with the plane, the Jorhat Air Force team reached the accident site and started investigation. It took about four hours for the Air Force team to reach the accident site. However, the reasons for the accident could not be known.

It is reported that the plane crashed in the inaccessible hilly area of ​​Karbi Anglong district shortly after take-off from Jorhat. Hearing the loud noise, fear spread among the people of nearby villages. As soon as the information was received, the police officers immediately started the search and rescue operation. The accident occurred in a remote hilly area near Nilip block of Chokihola in Rangkhela under Karbi Anglong district. According to the local people, around 7 pm, a loud bang-like sound was heard, which echoed in the surrounding hills and spread panic in the surrounding settlements.

Eyewitnesses said the sound was very loud and echoed in the hilly area, leading villagers to suspect that a military aircraft might have fallen in the area. Some people also saw smoke rising from the hills immediately after the blast.

Sources said the aircraft was a Sukhoi-30 MKI fighter jet, which had taken off from Jorhat in the evening. The crash site is in a forested and mountainous area away from human population, which made it difficult for the people there to reach immediately.
