Bevan Jacobs out of second T20 against South Africa, Katne Clark included as cover
Hamilton: The New Zealand cricket team has suffered a major setback before the second T20 match against South Africa. Middle order batsman Bevan Jacobs is out of this match due to a knee injury. In his place, uncapped player Kateney Clarke has been included in the team as cover.
23-year-old Jacobs suffered a left knee injury while fielding in the first T20 at Mount Maunganui, after which he had to leave the field. The scan confirmed bone bruising on the side of his knee. New Zealand Cricket Board said that further investigation will be done regarding his return.
26-year-old Katne Clarke was recently seen in great form in Northern Districts’ Super Smash title win. He scored 431 runs in 9 innings in the tournament, which included one century and three half-centuries. His average was 61.57 and strike rate was 171.71. The second T20 match between New Zealand and South Africa will be played in Hamilton on Tuesday, March 17. South Africa has taken the lead in the series by winning the first match by seven wickets.
