NDA’s dominance in Rajya Sabha elections, big blow to opposition

New Delhi. The results of Rajya Sabha elections held across the country have given a new twist to the political equations. The National Democratic Alliance performed brilliantly and captured 22 out of 37 seats, while the opposition parties had to be content with a total of 15 seats.

Under these elections, the process was completed on 37 seats in 10 states, out of which candidates on 26 seats had already been elected unopposed. Voting for the remaining 11 seats was held in Bihar, Odisha and Haryana. Out of these 11 seats, 9 went to NDA’s account, which shows the strong position of the alliance.

Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA won all five seats in Bihar, while in Odisha too, BJP and its supported candidates made gains. In Haryana, one seat went to BJP and one seat to Indian National Congress.

It is clear from these results that NDA’s position in the Upper House of Parliament has become stronger. At the same time, this result is no less than a big shock for the opposition parties like Congress, RJD and BJD.

Political analysts believe that the impact of these results will be clearly visible on the proceedings of Parliament and the legislative agenda in the coming times, where the increasing strength of NDA can make it easier for the government to take decisions.
