Iran’s missile attack on Qatar, tension increased in the Middle East, global energy crisis deepened.

Washington/Qatar. Tension in the Middle East has reached dangerous levels after Iran launched a missile attack on Qatar’s Ras Laffan Industrial City. This attack has put not only regional security but also global energy supply in deep crisis.

According to reports, on the night of March 18-19, Iran fired five ballistic missiles targeting Qatar’s most important gas export hub, Ras Laffan. Four of these were destroyed in the air, but one missile fell on the terminal and caused a massive fire. After this attack, Qatar had to temporarily stop LNG production. Ras Laffan supplies about 20 percent of the world’s liquefied natural gas, causing panic in the global energy market and sending Brent crude prices rising by more than seven percent.

On Thursday morning, Iran carried out drone attacks on Kuwait’s two oil refineries, Mina Al-Ahmadi Refinery and Mina Abdullah Refinery, causing a fire. Kuwait Petroleum Corporation confirmed the attack, saying the situation was quickly brought under control and no injuries were reported.

Following the attack, the United States responded strongly and issued an open warning to Iran. US President Donald Trump said that if Iran continues attacking Qatar, the world’s largest gas field South Pars will be completely destroyed. South Pars is considered the backbone of Iran’s economy and is located in the Persian Gulf, known as the North Field in Qatar.
Qatar strongly condemned the attack as a violation of its sovereignty and in retaliation ordered military officials of the Iranian embassy to leave the country. At the same time, Iran has also warned of targeting the energy installations of the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, due to which the security alert has been increased in the entire Gulf region.

Meanwhile, security concerns have also increased in America. Incidents of suspicious drone sightings over Fort Leslie McNair in Washington have created a stir. The US Secretary of State and Defense Minister live at this military base. The drone has not been identified yet, but in view of the increasing threat, the security level has been increased at many military bases.

This increasing conflict in the Middle East has increased uncertainty at the global level. Amidst the fear of energy supply disruption and the expansion of war, the eyes of the world are now focused on the next step of this crisis.
