Stone pelting in temple premises on Eid day in Kapilvastu, Nepal, prohibitory order imposed.

Kathmandu. Prohibitory order has been imposed in the affected areas till further orders after the dispute that started after some people of a particular community pelted stones at the local temple premises on the occasion of Eid in Maharajganj area of ​​Kapilvastu district of Nepal on Saturday. Strict security arrangements have been made in the area.

Local people said that tension arose between the youth of two communities over the incident of vandalism during singing of bhajans in the Kali temple on Saturday morning. To prevent possible clashes, District Administration Office Kapilvastu has banned any kind of meeting, procession and gathering from 2 pm today till further orders.

Kapilvastu district Deputy Superintendent of Police Ripandra Singh said that on Chaitra Navratri, devotees were worshiping in temples, while on the occasion of Eid, the Muslim community was offering namaz in mosques. Meanwhile, the dispute between both the parties regarding the loud sound of the mike increased and a situation of clash broke out. As the dispute escalated, stones were pelted in the temple area by the Muslim community. After this the angry Hindus protested. To control the situation, the security personnel resorted to lathi charge and also released a few rounds of tear gas shells.

Kapilvastu’s Assistant Chief District Officer Bhaveshwar Ghimire said that a total of 8 people including security personnel and civilians have been injured in this incident. The injured included 3 from Nepal Police, 2 from Armed Police and 3 protesters.

The protesters blocked the road by burning tires in Gandhwa area under Taulihwa-Bahadurganj road section. A large number of security personnel have been deployed at the incident site.

Issuing an order, Ghimire has banned meetings, processions and demonstrations from 2 pm till further orders from Badgarhi bridge in the east of Maharajganj municipality, Bahadurganj Chowk in the west, Maharajganj market in the north and Hadauna area in the south.
