Pakistan fired more than 100 rockets in Afghanistan, hundreds of people displaced in the firing
Kabul. Pakistan has fired more than 100 rockets in parts of Afghanistan in the last three days. This has caused damage to the houses of common citizens. Officials of Afghanistan’s Kunar province have alleged that Pakistan has violated the ceasefire by targeting Nari and Manogai districts in the last three days. Hundreds of people, fed up with the firing by Pakistan Army, have been displaced.
Kunar Province is in the northeast of Afghanistan. It is adjacent to the border of Pakistan. The region is known for the Hindu Kush mountain ranges and the Kunar River Valley. It is strategically important due to its inaccessible hilly geographical location. Kunar is bordered by Nuristan Province to the north, Laghman to the west and Nangarhar Province to the south.
“During the ceasefire, Pakistan launched more than 100 rocket attacks in areas near the imaginary Durand Line in Nari and Manogai districts,” Zia-ur-Rehman Spin Ghar, head of Kunar Information and Culture Department, said, according to Tulu News (Tolo News) report. This caused financial loss to many residents, although there were no reports of any casualties.
Faridoun Samim, spokesman for the governor of Nuristan, said, “Earlier, dozens of vehicles used this route every day and ambulances also passed through here. Now Pakistan Army does not allow people to travel. “Whoever uses this route is fired upon.”
Meanwhile, residents of Kamdesh and Barg-e-Matal districts of Nuristan say roads have been closed due to the clashes. Due to this they are facing serious difficulties. During the journey, Pakistan army targets them. “Anyone who uses this route to reach Nuristan is shot at and is not allowed to go further,” a resident said.
According to Kunar officials, around 7,500 families have been displaced from areas near the imaginary Durand Line due to sporadic shelling by the Pakistan Army and are now living in tents along the Kunar river.
