Gold price fell by Rs 48,271
Bullion Market: Amidst the ongoing tension in the Middle East, tremendous fluctuations are being seen in the prices of gold and silver. In January this year, the prices of gold and silver had reached historical levels, after which they started declining. Huge fluctuations are being seen in the prices of gold and silver since the end of January. Talking about the present time, the prices of both precious metals, gold and silver, have fallen significantly. On one hand, silver prices have fallen by Rs 1.92 lakh from their all-time high. On the other hand, gold has also become cheaper by Rs 48,271 from its lifetime high.
Gold closed at Rs 1,44,825 on MCX on Friday.
On Friday, gold for delivery on April 2 on MCX closed at Rs 1,44,825 per 10 grams with an increase. Whereas, silver for delivery on May 5 closed at Rs 2,27,470 per kg with a huge fall of 1.72 percent. On January 29, the price of silver on MCX had reached a life time high of Rs 4,20,048 per kg. On the same day, gold also reached an all-time high of Rs 1,93,096 per 10 grams. On MCX, gold has become cheaper by Rs 48,271 from its lifetime high and silver by Rs 1,92,578 from its lifetime high.
Prices also came down significantly in the bullion market
On Friday, March 20, the price of gold of 99.9 percent purity fell by Rs 650, or 0.42 percent, in Delhi’s bullion market to reach Rs 1,52,650 per 10 grams. Whereas, on January 29, 2026, the price of gold had reached the highest level of Rs 1,83,000 per 10 grams. Accordingly, gold prices are at Rs 1,52,650 per 10 grams, down by Rs 30,350 compared to its lifetime high. Bullion markets remain closed on Saturday and Sunday.
Silver became cheaper by Rs 1.64 lakh in bullion market
However, a much greater decline has been recorded in the prices of silver as compared to gold. On Friday, March 20, the price of silver in Delhi’s bullion market increased by Rs 1,800, or about 1 percent, and closed at Rs 2,40,500 per kg. Whereas, on January 29, 2026, the price of silver had reached an all-time high of Rs 4,04,500 per kg. Accordingly, silver prices are at Rs 2,40,500 per 1 kg, down by Rs 1,64,000 compared to its lifetime high.
