Mumbai’s drug mafia arrested in Lucknow: Big action by STF, smugglers were planning to escape to Nepal
Lucknow . Uttar Pradesh STF, taking major action against interstate drug smuggling, arrested two vicious accused wanted from Mumbai from Lucknow. The arrested accused were associated with the drug supply network in Maharashtra and were trying to escape to Nepal.
The arrest was made from the tempo stand near Charbagh railway station, where both the suspects were preparing to escape. The arrested accused have been identified as Bhavesh Chauhan alias Lalu and Shoaib Ashraf Pathan alias Batla, residents of Nala Sopara area of Mumbai.
STF had received information from Maharashtra Police that these accused were hiding in Lucknow. After this, taking joint action, the team laid siege and caught both of them. Both the accused were wanted in a NDPS Act case registered at Naigaon police station, Mira-Bhayander (Maharashtra).
The investigation has shockingly revealed that the accused were active in drug smuggling at the interstate level for the last 4-5 years. These people used to prepare brown sugar using chemicals and supply it to pubs, hotels and parties in Mumbai. Recently, after being caught in Mumbai, they had absconded and were planning to flee to Nepal via Lucknow.
Police investigation has also revealed that the main accused Bhavesh Chauhan already has several serious criminal cases registered against him including attempt to murder, assault and NDPS Act.
At present, further legal action is being taken against both the accused under the case registered in Maharashtra. This arrest is being considered as a big success of STF, due to which a big attack has been made on the big network of drug smuggling.
