Pradyut Bordoloi made serious allegations against Congress, joined BJP and contested elections from Dispur.

Dispur. Two-time former MP from Assam Pradyut Bordoloi has fiercely attacked the Congress after recently joining the Bharatiya Janata Party. He accused his old party of constantly humiliating him and hurting his self-esteem.

Bordoloi said the discrimination started during the 2022 organizational elections, when he supported Shashi Tharoor. After this, some party leaders started efforts to marginalize him. He said that Mallikarjun Kharge and Sonia Gandhi respected him, but the second line leaders of the party isolated him.

The former MP also told that his car was attacked with an iron rod during the 2025 Panchayat elections. Initially they thought it was a conspiracy by the BJP, but later it was revealed that the attack was carried out by someone close to a Congress MLA. The high command ignored his complaint.

Bordoloi said that when even state Congress president Gaurav Gogoi did not defend him, he felt that there was no place left for him in the Congress. After joining the BJP, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma contacted him and made him a candidate from Dispur assembly seat. Bordoloi said that the only condition he had set for joining BJP was that he should be given full respect. He clarified that now he will serve the public with the strong organization of BJP and has not come for any personal interest.
