When will the first flight with passengers fly, when will booking start?
Jewar Noida International Airport: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Noida International Airport located in Jewar today at around 12.00 noon. The first phase of the airport, built at a cost of Rs 11,200 crore, will be capable of handling about 1.2 crore passengers every year. This will be the 5th international airport of Uttar Pradesh. This airport will be very important not only for Noida and Greater Noida but also for Delhi, Ghaziabad and Faridabad as well as Aligarh, Mathura and Agra. Noida International Airport has been developed as the second international airport for Delhi-NCR. Earlier, Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport was the only airport in the entire region.
When will the first flight with passengers take off?
According to Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, usually there is a gap of 45 days to 60 days between the issuance of aerodrome license and commencement of flight service. Noida Airport got the aerodrome license on 6th of this month. This indicates that after the inauguration today, commercial services will start from here in late April or early May. Indigo, the country’s largest airline company, will operate the first flight from this airport. Apart from IndiGo, Akasa Air and Air India will also operate services from Noida Airport.
For which cities the services will start
Noida International Airport is expected to start services for big cities like Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad first. After which services will also start for cities like Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Pune, Goa, Jaipur.
When will booking start
Bookings are expected to open approximately 4-6 weeks before the start of the first commercial flights from Noida International Airport.
Specialty of Noida Airport
Noida International Airport is one of the largest greenfield airport projects in India. This airport has a 3,900 meter long runway which is capable of handling large size aircraft. It also has modern navigation systems including Instrument Landing System (ILS) and advanced airfield lighting for efficient day and night operations in all weather conditions. The airport also features a powerful cargo system, including a multi-modal cargo hub, integrated cargo terminal and logistics zone. The cargo facility is designed to handle over 2.5 lakh metric tonnes of freight annually, which can be expanded to approximately 18 lakh metric tonnes.
