20 percent more rain in Delhi also ineffective, IMD’s alert regarding April-May

New Delhi. The national capital has seen a dual form of weather in the month of March this year. If we go by the data of the Meteorological Department, despite 20 percent more rainfall than normal in March, the heat has broken the record of years.

Meteorologists say that after February, the month of March has also been warmer than normal, which is indicating severe heat in the coming months of April and May also. The Meteorological Department has already issued a forecast of extreme heat during the months of March to May this year.

March weather highlights
– Rising temperature: The average maximum temperature this March has been 32.4 degrees Celsius. On March 11, the temperature had reached 36.8 degrees. In 2022, the average maximum temperature in March was 33.4 degrees.
This is the highest in four years since then.

– Hot nights: The nights of March this year have also been the hottest in four years. The average minimum temperature was recorded at 17.4 degrees, which is much higher than normal (15.6 degrees). Earlier in March 2022 it was 17.6 degrees.

– Excessive rainfall also ineffective: Till March 29, Delhi received 19.5 mm rainfall, which is 20 percent more than the normal (16.2 mm). Despite this, the heat did not reduce due to strong sunlight and less impact of western disturbance.

– Shortening spring: Experts say that the time of spring season is continuously decreasing in Delhi and as soon as winter ends, intense heat is started being felt.

Yellow alert today, light rain forecast
Even though the weather department’s forecast of storm and rain may not have been very accurate despite the yellow alert on Sunday, now the weather department has issued the same for Monday also. It will remain cloudy throughout the day. There are chances of formation of thunder clouds, lightning and surface winds blowing at a speed of 40 km per hour along with light rainfall.

On the other hand, the maximum temperature in Delhi reached 36.2 degrees Celsius on Sunday, which is 3.6 degrees more than the seasonal average. The minimum temperature was 19.8 degrees Celsius, which is 1.7 degrees above the seasonal average. The humidity level in the air was recorded at 83 to 36 percent.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi’s air is currently clean. The average AQI on Sunday was recorded at 198 i.e. in the “moderate” category. There is no possibility of much change in this at present.
