Air travel will become cheaper from April 20! There will be no extra charge
Air Travel: There is news of great relief for those traveling by air. Now you will not have to pay extra money every time to choose a seat in the flight. Aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued a new rule, under which from April 20, airlines will have to provide at least 60% seats without any extra charge. According to the new rule, 60% of the seats in every flight will be such that passengers can choose without paying any extra charge. Till now this facility was available only on about 20% seats, while for the remaining seats, extra fees ranging from Rs 200 to Rs 2000 had to be paid.
Transparency is necessary in seat allotment
DGCA has given clear instructions to the airlines that the process of seat allotment should be completely transparent. It should be clear to passengers during booking which seats are free and which will be charged. This will provide better and fairer options to passengers.
Traveling with family will be easy
The new rule also states that passengers traveling on the same PNR should be given seats close to each other, as far as possible. This means that now the problem of getting different seats while traveling with family or friends will be reduced.
Airlines expressed objection
However, this decision was also opposed by some airlines last week. Companies like Indigo, Air India and SpiceJet say that this will affect their earnings and they may be forced to increase fares.
What benefit will the passengers get?
This decision will directly benefit lakhs of passengers every day. More than 5 lakh people travel by air every day in India. In such a situation, the journey can become cheaper than before due to the elimination of additional expenses on seat selection.
