Iran attacks Kuwait’s electricity-water desalination plant, Indian employee killed
Kuwait City. Kuwait’s electricity and water desalination plant has been damaged by the Iranian attack. Kuwaiti officials say an Indian employee died in the attack. The building suffered physical damage in the attack. The attack comes at a time when regional tensions are rising due to war.
Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity said in a statement on Monday, “Iran has attacked a service building located at one of the country’s electricity and water desalination plants. The attack resulted in the death of an Indian employee and caused significant physical damage to the building,” Al Jazeera channel and CBS News reported.
According to the statement, technical and emergency response teams were immediately dispatched to deal with the situation after the attack and ensure normal operations continue. Iran has not yet made any official comment on this attack. State media quoted Kuwait’s ministry as saying that the plant had suffered heavy damage due to the attack. Kuwait’s Defense Ministry said yesterday evening that 14 missiles and 12 drones were spotted in Kuwait’s airspace. Many of those drones were targeting a military camp. During this period 10 soldiers were injured.
The war that broke out between America, Israel and Iran since February 28 last month is becoming more aggressive with the passage of time. According to Iran’s official media, the speaker of Iran’s parliament has warned the US against a ground attack. Threatened that if there is a ground attack on Iran, attacks on American allies will be intensified.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday that Israel would expand the scope of its attacks in southern Lebanon. The Israeli military will expand the “existing security strip” into the neighboring country. American-born Israeli soldier Sergeant Moshe Yitzhak Hacohen Katz was killed during fighting in southern Lebanon, officials said.
Use of desalination plant: Here salt and other minerals are removed from the salty sea water and made potable. It is also used industrially. These plants are often combined with power plants, as desalination is an energy-intensive process.
