GST revenue collection increased by 8.8 percent in March to cross Rs 2 lakh crore
New Delhi. Gross Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection is continuously showing strength in the country. GST revenue collection in March increased by 8.8 per cent to cross Rs 2 lakh crore, while the gross GST revenue collection in March last year was Rs 1.83 lakh crore.
The Directorate General of GST said in the data released on Wednesday that this increase in Gross Goods and Services Tax (GST) revenue collection in March was due to increase in tax collection from domestic sales and imports.
Gross GST revenue collection increased to Rs 2,00,064 crore in March, up 8.8 per cent from Rs 1,83,845 crore in March 2025.
Domestic revenue increased by 5.9 percent to more than Rs 1.46 lakh crore in the month of March, while revenue from imports increased by 17.8 percent to Rs 53,861 crore. According to the data, the amount of refund issued during March increased by 13.8 percent to Rs 22,074 crore. ‘
Net GST revenue collection after adjusting refunds stood at around Rs 1.78 lakh crore, showing a growth of 8.2 per cent year-on-year.
Apart from this, the gross GST revenue collection for the entire financial year 2025-26 (April-March) increased by 8.3 percent to more than Rs 22.27 lakh crore. After adjusting ‘refunds’, net revenue collection increased by 7.1 percent to Rs 19.34 lakh crore. This points towards increasing import activities and better customs collection.
