LPG supply completely normal in the country, delivery record of more than 51 lakhs
New Delhi. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas clarified on Sunday that the supply of LPG in the country remains completely normal and there is no report of gas shortage anywhere. According to the ministry, more than 51 lakh LPG cylinders were delivered across the country on April 4, which is a huge figure in recent times and reflects the strength of the supply system.
The ministry said that the use of digital mediums among consumers is continuously increasing. The share of online booking in total booking has increased to 95 percent. This not only brings convenience to consumers but also strengthens transparency and efficiency in the delivery system.
The Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) system implemented to prevent irregularities and manipulation in delivery is also proving effective. According to the ministry, DAC-based delivery has now reached 90 percent, whereas in February this figure was 53 percent. This indicates that the LPG distribution system is becoming more secure and monitorable.
The ministry has appealed to consumers to use digital platforms as much as possible for LPG cylinder booking and visit distributors only when necessary. This will reduce crowding and the distribution process will remain smooth. The demand for small LPG cylinders has also seen a significant increase. About 90,000 five kilogram cylinders were sold on April 4, while their total sales since March 23 have reached more than 6.6 lakh. The ministry said that these small cylinders are available with distributors and can be easily purchased on the basis of any valid identity card.
Apart from this, Piped Natural Gas (PNG) is also being promoted rapidly in the country. Since March, more than 3.9 lakh new registrations have taken place and gas supply to 3.6 lakh new connections has been started. States have been directed to provide new PNG connections to domestic and commercial consumers.
The ministry also said that all refineries are working at full capacity and adequate reserves of crude oil are available. There is also sufficient stock of petrol and diesel in the country. LPG production has been increased to meet the domestic demand, due to which the supply system remains balanced and consumers are not facing any kind of problem.
