Rainstorm in Pakistan, 45 including 23 children died
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Continuous heavy rains have caused devastation in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of north-west Pakistan. At least 45 people have died, while 105 have been injured in rain-related incidents in the last 10 days. This information was given by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority on Sunday.
23 children among those who died
According to the PDMA report, those who died in accidents due to incessant rains since March 25 include 23 children, 17 men and 5 women. Among the injured, there are 45 men, 16 women and 44 children. Due to heavy rains, roofs and walls of houses collapsed in many districts, causing massive loss of life and property.
382 houses partially damaged
According to reports, 442 houses have been affected, of which 382 have been partially damaged and 60 have been completely destroyed. These houses are located in more than two dozen districts. The PDMA report further said that rescue and relief operations are underway and PDMA, Rescue 1122, district administration and other concerned agencies are working together.
Rain alert again till April 9
The Director General of PDMA has warned that rains may continue again in many parts of the province till April 9. In view of this, tourists and local people have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel to sensitive areas and strictly follow government instructions.
