235 people arrested in Iran for inciting riots and American-Israeli propaganda
Tehran. Iranian security forces have arrested hundreds of people with alleged links to the US and Israel in a massive crackdown in Tehran and Khuzestan province. These people are accused of destabilizing the country, inciting riots and spreading propaganda in collaboration with foreign media networks.
Iranian state news media outlet PressED TV reported that police had identified and arrested 235 people with ties to the US and Israel in western Tehran. Of these, 93 people were later sent to jail as per the instructions of the court.
Police say that this action has been taken with the aim of strengthening national security amid recent regional tensions and external interference. Earlier on March 30, Iran had arrested 138 such people.
The police command of western Tehran province said in a statement issued on Monday that as part of the US and Israel’s goal of destabilizing the country, these people tried to organize anti-state elements to incite riots, spread pro-US-Israel propaganda and send photos and videos to the “Iran International” TV channel.
In another operation last Monday, police in Khuzestan province identified and arrested 138 people accused of collaborating in US-Israeli subversive plots against the Islamic Republic.
Khuzestan police said that through technical intelligence operations and extensive police investigation, agents from the provincial police intelligence department identified and arrested the men. They had been cooperating with the enemy media, especially the so-called Iran International and Manoto Network, for the last 72 hours.
The arrests come amid the latest offensive by Israel and the US against Iran, which began in late February. During this period, the country’s intelligence agencies and law enforcement forces have detained many unruly elements.
