Emphasis on nuclear cooperation in India-US energy partnership, important sectors will get strength

Florida. It has been agreed to further strengthen cooperation between India and America in the fields of energy, defence, trade and emerging technologies. US Ambassador to India Sergio Gore expressed confidence that in the coming times, both the countries together will take the partnership to new heights in many important areas.

After the meeting at Mar-a-Lago during the visit of Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri to Florida, Sergio Gore said on social media platform X that India and the US are fully prepared to work together in key areas like trade, defense and energy. He described it as a sign of growing trust and strategic relations between the two countries.

Energy cooperation emerged as a major theme during the three-day visit. Vikram Misri met US Energy Secretary Chris Wright to discuss strengthening energy security, expanding bilateral energy trade and exploring new possibilities. According to the Indian Embassy, ​​the meeting laid special emphasis on clean energy, traditional energy sources and coordination of new technologies.

Sergio Gore said that after the passage of the proposed ‘Peace Bill’ in India, civil nuclear cooperation can get a new impetus. Along with this, there are possibilities of increasing cooperation in areas like coal gasification and American LPG export. This step is considered important towards meeting India’s growing energy needs and ensuring energy security.

Apart from energy, the two countries also discussed enhancing cooperation in areas such as emerging technologies, secure supply chains and artificial intelligence. Detailed discussions on these topics took place between US Commerce Department officials and the Indian delegation.

During this period, Vikram Misri also met senior officials of the US State Department, representatives of the White House and the National Security Council. In these meetings, emphasis was laid on developing a common vision on the situation in the Indo-Pacific region, West Asia and global strategic issues.

There have also been positive indications regarding cooperation in the defense sector. Sergio Gore said that the armies of both the countries will play an important role in increasing mutual coordination and strengthening defense relations. Focus will also be on increasing defense equipment sales and interoperability.

India-US relations have grown steadily stronger over the past decade and have now taken the form of a comprehensive global strategic partnership. Increasing cooperation in sectors like energy, technology and defense will make both the countries more capable in dealing with global challenges.
