Horrific road accident: Uncontrolled container crushed people riding a pickup, five died on the spot
Bhopal. Five people died in a horrific road accident in the early hours of Sunday near village Kikra Talab on Jabalpur-Amarkantak National Highway-45 under Gadasarai police station area in Dindori district of Madhya Pradesh, while one person was injured, who has been admitted to the hospital.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has expressed grief over the death of five villagers in the accident. He said on social media on Sunday evening that the state government stands with the families of the victims.
He has prayed to Baba Mahakal to give place to the deceased at his feet and to provide strength to their bereaved family to bear this loss. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav has given instructions to provide an assistance amount of Rs 4.5 lakh each to the families of the deceased citizens.
According to Gadasarai police station, the villagers of village Parswah were returning to their village in a pickup vehicle after attending a program on Saturday night. A pickup vehicle filled with villagers got punctured on the Jabalpur Amarkantak National Highway in the early hours of Sunday.
The driver parked the vehicle on the roadside and started changing the tyre, when a speeding container passed by and crushed six people traveling in the pickup, killing five on the spot, while one was seriously injured.
There was an outcry on the spot after the accident. As soon as the information was received, the police reached the spot and took the injured to the hospital. At the same time, the investigation of the case was started after taking the dead bodies to the hospital for post-mortem. Police have arrested the truck driver.
Superintendent of Police Vahini Singh said that the accident was so severe that the five people who came under the vehicle did not even get a chance to recover and they died on the spot.
The deceased have been identified as Pawan Kumar Maravi (32), Vishal Singh Dhurve (58), Rajkaran Vanvasi (30), Bihari Singh Udde (31) and Pawan Singh Udde (52), all residents of village Parswah. Police have handed over the bodies of the deceased to their families after post-mortem and investigation into the case is ongoing.
On getting information about the incident, Dindori Collector Anju Pawan Bhadauria reached the spot on Sunday morning and took stock of the incident and then reached Parswah village of the deceased and consoled the family members of the deceased.
The Collector said that funds are being released for the funeral of the villagers who lost their lives in the tragic accident, and under the Sambal Yojana, each deceased family is being given an assistance amount of Rs 4 lakh.
