Municipal Commissioner’s big action on negligence in IGRS complaints, 10 outsourced workers dismissed

Kanpur. Taking a strict stance against negligence and misleading reports in the disposal of IGRS complaints, the Municipal Corporation took major action. When unsatisfactory feedback was revealed on 58 complaints in the review, the administration came into action and the responsible officers and employees were punished.

The Municipal Commissioner clarified that it is mandatory to resolve the complaints in a timely and transparent manner. Strict action will continue against those who are negligent. “These things were said by Municipal Commissioner Arpit Upadhyay on Sunday.

Municipal Commissioner Arpit Upadhyay, during the review of IGRS cases under the Lighting Department, found that in many cases, serious negligence has been done in the disposal of complaints.

In many cases, misleading and incomplete reports were uploaded on the portal, which increased dissatisfaction among the citizens. Receiving unsatisfactory feedback on a total of 58 complaints raises questions on the administrative system.

Due to this, show cause notice has been issued against Junior Engineer Ashutosh Kumar and Assistant Engineer (Road Light) Rajesh Kumar Singh. Besides, instructions have been given to withhold the salaries of both till further orders.

The Municipal Commissioner has given clear instructions that the report should be uploaded on the portal only after on-site verification of each complaint. If any negligence is found in future, strict punitive action will be ensured against the concerned officers and employees.

In this sequence, a surprise inspection of the zonal office (Zone-05) located at Govind Nagar was conducted on 10 April 2026. Many employees were found absent during inspection. Besides, negligence was also revealed in the efficiency report of outsourced employees working in the street lighting department.

On the basis of the report submitted by the Junior Engineer, 10 outsourced employees who were disinterested in work – Shahnawaz Sharif, Riazuddin Siddiqui, Sumit Kashyap, Ashu Kumar, Priya (Receipt/Dispatch), Jai Singh, Ayush Pandey, Rahul Rathore, Arun Kumar and Mohd. Arif has been separated from service.

The Municipal Commissioner also directed that action to withhold salaries should be taken against the employees found absent during surprise inspection, so that the work culture can be improved.
