Ranchi: Ranchi Police has foiled a major conspiracy to commit burglary in the Product Constable Competitive Examination- 2023 of Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC). By raiding a deserted semi-finished building in the Tamar police station area, the police have arrested 5 members of the inter-state paper leak gang and 159 candidates preparing for the examination red-handed.
On the basis of secret information received by SSP Ranchi, late on the night of 11th April, a special team surrounded the building of Tamar where suspicious activities were going on. There was a stampede on the spot as soon as the police were seen. The candidates started hiding their mobile phones and documents, but the police showed wisdom and confined everyone in two rooms and took them into custody.
The deal was done for Rs 10 to 15 lakhs
The investigation has revealed shockingly that the gang had demanded Rs 10 to 15 lakh from each candidate in exchange for passing the examination.

Printers and ready sets of questions and answers were found at the spot. The gang members were making the candidates memorize answers.
Check and admit card confiscated
Police have recovered a huge amount of bank cheques, torn admit cards and mobile phones from the spot. The gang had seized the mobile phones and original documents of the candidates to destroy the evidence.
The ‘old player’ of paper leak is the mastermind
The leader of this gang is Atul Vats, a resident of Jehanabad, Bihar. The criminal history of Atul Vats is very shocking. He has been involved in paper leak cases of many major examinations of the country, which include:-

UP Constable Recruitment & RO/ARO Exam (2024)

During the raid, the police also seized 08 luxury vehicles from the spot, which were being used to transport the candidates and for the operation of the gang. Among the 159 candidates arrested, 07 women candidates are also included.
Tamad police has registered a case under case number 21/26. The police is now coordinating with JSSC officials to blacklist these candidates and complete further legal process. The police are continuously conducting raids in search of other agents associated with this gang.
